Yes, it was that dreaded time of day again. It was time for math class, which might as well have been called hell's new form. To make matters worse, there was a trig test. Of course, Troy had no intention to take it. In fact, he had planned it ahead, and didn't study. Although his plans made it sound so simple, he was now huddled up in the corner of the basement, in constant fear of getting caught.
The basement didn't seem like the most pleasant place for Troy...It was dark and quiet. There was a leak in the ceiling, and water slowly dripped onto the floor. There was obviously no heater, and in the midst of winter, it was not pleasant.
After about five minutes of sitting there and staring blankly into space, Troy found no way to amuse himself. Instead of trying to find something to do or actually going to class, he just kicked a rock around, hoping that something exciting would happen...Which was highly unlikely. Finally, Troy heard someone coming down. He hid, cowering in fear, hoping that it wasn't a teacher.

Alyssa had heard about the basement not long ago from someone she knew to be a fellow destined, so she felt safe enough to travel down there and spend some time away from the increasingly growing strangeness of the world. After all, she'd begun feeling more outcast from the people who weren't like her.... the people who knew nothing about any of this. Didn't know that there were students among them who had to fight to protect the very livelihood of the world.
With a sigh she sifted her fingers lightly through her hair and looked around, though because of the darkness she didn't spot anyone around. "Helloooo?" She called out softly, not believing that anyone would be down here. After all... it was the dark, damp basement. She took a few steps around and materialized a flashlight in her hand, and flicked it on with her thumb. She passed the beam of light around the general area and walked over to the nearby wall, and leaned her back against it, sliding down to a sitting position, she nearly jumped back up. She had finally noticed the other person.
"S-sorry....." She said with a soft chuckle. "I didn't see you down here..."

One could only imagine how relieved Troy was when he saw that the person entering the basement was just another one of his fellow destined. He let out a sigh and sunk down, leaning his head back slightly. As the girl sat down, Troy could tell that she didn't know he was there. As she jumped back a bit, a strange expression appeared on his face...It was a combonation between happy, confused, and relieved.
"Oh, it's no problem. Sorry if I scared you."
Sighing softly, the teenage boy ran his hand through his brown hair. He was getting that strange, almost sickly feeling again, probably because another destined walked into the room. Absorbing powers wasn't always the best feeling in the world...In fact, it got him a bit nervous...But it was all worth it in the end.
"So...Do you have a free period, or are you just cutting class like me?"

Alyssa looked at Troy closely, and motioned at him slightly with her finger. "I saw you in the classroom the other day... when a bunch of us Destined were gathered. You're one too, right?"
She took a moment, and realized she hadn't answered his question. "Oh... yeah. I'm ditching. History test." She said with a soft chuckle. She'd honestly had enough of history this week and had sort of put off studying for the test to hang out with a few Destined that she had recently met.
((bleh, its short. sorry))

((lol, it's not that short ))
"Ah, good...Now I don't feel as bad. I'm getting out of a trig test."
Troy laughed softly. Trigonometry was definetly one of the worst parts of high school...Matching up with the fan favorite, calculus. Even when he had nothing to do, he wouldn't study, since almost anything, including laying in bed and staring at the wall, was more fun than doing a page of extra math problems. He then looked over, remembering her question.
"I thought I recognized you from somewhere...Yeah, I'm one of the Destined."
It seemed like such a small world...All of the Destined, or at least that was what Troy assumed, seemed to be in the same age group and attended the same high school. Maybe it was just a coincidence, or maybe the high school was just an ancient Greek hot spot? It seemed like a retorical question, but life worked in mysterious ways.
"All of this Destined stuff is pretty confusing, isn't it? Life was hard enough without having to deal with these powers..."

Alyssa's nose scrunched up as he mentioned math... by far her LEAST favorite subject. And she wasn't even up to trig yet.... that was next years math course.
"I don't blame you for ditching that."
Though it did explain why he was hiding out in the basement... in her opinion Math teachers seemed harder on ditchers than any other. She'd been caught multiple times by teachers, who seemed to somehow be able to guess or know where the students were. Granted she was usually outside with her notebook... She smiled when he acknowledged that he was a destined... sometimes it was uncanny how many times the Destined wound up running into each other.
"Agreed. Not all of them are easy to control either. My secondary power... Astral Projection.... its.... annoying...really. It comes at random times and i haven't figured out a way to really control it yet. What are your powers?"

"My power's...Complicated."
Troy was telling the truth. All he knew was that he absorbed the abilities of others, but didn't know the full extent of what he could do. He had met almost all of the Destined, which gave him quite a few different powers, but he lacked control over almost all of them. As Alyssa explained how her power was 'annoying,' Troy just sighed. Although he could usually turn his abilities off and on when he wasn't around other Destined, he ocassionally lost that privelege.
"I sort of absorb the abilities of others."
It was a wonder how a lot of these powers worked, and Troy's was no exception. He assumed that he was sort of like a human sponge, but that was a very simple explanation. He also wondered what would happen if he took too many powers. When he was around just a few people, he got a little queasy. If there were hundreds of Destined, he thought, tugging at his collar, I could...Explode. Of course, that might have been an overexageration, but anything was possible.
"I can only control a few of my powers, though. I don't even know what abilities I've absorbed."

"Do you keep them?" She asked, tilting her head slightly. She hadn't heard of the absorption power, but it seemed like it would be useful. Especially if he got to keep or mimic the powers he got to absorb.
"My main power I could help you with. Its surprisingly useful." She said with a bright smile. "Conjuring." She wasn't sure if he was currently absorbing her powers or not, or if it was like that comic book character where it was touch-induced... but she figured many people could benefit from conjuring. She mostly used it when she was in a bind... or hungry. After all the first thing she conjured, though it was accidental, had been an apple.
"want to try and see if you have it?"

"I can...But it's hard."
Troy was capable of using powers away from their original holders...He had used telekinesis when he was far away from Alex multiple times...But that was only one of the two powers he could control, the other being Lauren's healing factor, which basically worked on its own. He just wished that someone would teach him how to use his power to its full extent.
"My main power I could help you with. Its surprisingly useful. Conjuring."
This put a smile on Troy's face. He knew what conjuring was, since he was a bit of a geek and often played fantasy video games, but there was a good chance that it was really nothing like the games described it. The power, like Alyssa said, seemed very useful, but sounded difficult to control. "want to try and see if you have it?"
"Yeah, if you can show me how."

She gave a curt not, a sort of excited anticipating expression passing over her face. "Okay then" She smiled brightly, rubbing her hands lightly together. This would occupy some time if he had or didn't have conjuring.... due to the fact that there were subparts to the power.
"Okay... we'll try production first." She held out her hand and a moment later, a book appeared in her hand. "All you have to do is picture what you want to appear... and concentrate. At first I had to picture it from the start.... the composition." she said softly, her voice light to keep a positive attitude.
"When i replicated the apple, I started from the seed... then worked my way to the outside."

As Alyssa started to demonstrate her power, Troy moved a few inches closer to her and watched attentively. For once, he was actually willing to learn something new...Because this time, it actually mattered. Soon, she held her hand out, and something started to appear out of nowhere. Within seconds, a book was in her hand. The boy's eyes widened in disbelief, unable to wrap his mind around the fact that this was, in any way, real. "All you have to do is picture what you want to appear... and concentrate. At first I had to picture it from the start.... the composition."
With a nod, Troy turned to the side a bit and held out an open palm. He took a deep breath in, then closed his eyes. If she had to start an apple with a seed, he decided to take it one step further...Start a book with a page. As he started to imagine the page of a book, he started to feel a bit strange. When he opened his eyes, he looked onto his hands, and saw a few drops of black ink. A confused, yet disappointed look appeared on his face. He shook off the ink, then looked over at Alyssa.
"What'd I do wrong?"

"A book might be a little complicated to start with. But you DID make Ink appear... so you do have at least part of the power. Want to try this again or try transform?"
Alyssa noticed she was still holding on to the book Good. I can use this as an example. She glanced down at the book, hoping it would bring his attention to it as she changed it into something else. A moment later she held on to a teddybear.
Either way the teddy bear would be easier to start with than a book. It had taken her a week and a half of practicing to get the book down right. Most of the time it ended up a binding with no pages, or an off-center book with no words. Once he created something she would teach him to vanish it.... or how to repair it.

I think I'll try one more time."
Before he could turn and try again, Troy noticed that Alyssa once again appeared to be in a focused state. Raising an eyebrow, the boy turned toward her and watched, unsure of what exactly she was doing. Soon, the book started to shake a bit, and a teddy bear appeared right before his eyes. A smile appeared on his face and he let out a light chuckle, inspecting the bear closely to make sure he wasn't going crazy. It was his turn to give conjuring another shot.
"Don't laugh at me if I mess up, alright?"
An open palm was outstretched. Troy closed his eyes tightly, now concentrating on the task at hand. He pictured a teddy bear in his mind, mentally inspecting every dimension and angle of it. Letting out a deep breath, he could feel something slowly building together on his hand. Slowly opening one eye, he looked in amazement at his creation...He had conjured a teddy bear! Of course, it was somewhat lousy...The arms looked like they were about to fall out, stuffing was coming out of its eyeless left eye socket, and one ear looked like it had been bitten off...But it was definetly a start. He grabbed the teddy bear and set it down, a bright smile on his face.
"I don't believe it!"

"I won't laugh, don't worry." She said before he started. She watched him close his eyes then looked down at his hand, watching with interest. Moments later she noticed something happening... and a bear appeared in his hand. Granted it looked like it would fall apart.... but he conjured it none the less.
She grinned broadly and clapped her hands with much joy. "Awesome!" She picked up his teddy bear and turned it around in her hands a moment before holding it out to him. "Theres one part that helps with this. My power can fix some things too."
Picking up her own bear, she ripped its arms at the seams. She lifted it slightly so he could see. "This one is one of the easiest parts. Especially if you know what it should or did look like. Just picture whats wrong with it in your mind, and think of how it should or did look." With that, the dangling arm quickly snapped back on, the seam repaired. It excited her, the thought that he could utilize her power as well. And not just hers... he had the potential to learn all of the destined ones powers.

An eyebrow was raised as Alyssa ripped the arms of her teddy bear. He then watched closely as she once again held it up and explained how to fix it. Soon, the bear's arms seemed to instantly get sewn back onto its torso. The young man's eyes widened. If she could fix that...He thought, still amazed. ..Then what else could she fix? The possibilities were almost endless.
Finally, it was Troy's turn. He picked up his bear, looking down at its ripped arms, popped-out eye, and torn ear. Closing his eyes, he pictured the 'sickly' teddy bear, then imagined its body parts slowly appearing where they should have been. Opening his eyes, he saw that the teddy bear was now healthy again. A light chuckle came out of his mouth, realizing that conjuring was much easier than he would have expected. Anxious to know the limits of this new found power, he decided to ask the question that he had been wondering before.
"This may sound like a weird question, but what else can you fix? I mean, could you heal broken bones if you wanted to?"
