Lilith had felt strange all day, after skipping out early from school, she had headed straight for the garden. After playing around with all her new found skills, and then fixing the strange-looking results, caused by her moving the very earth, and the roots going a bit haywire, she couldn't sleep. She felt too closed up.
So she did something she hadn't done since she was a child at home, she snuck out the window, and slept upon the ground outside.
When she woke up, the first thing she noticed was the complete silence. It had taken her three months to get accustomed to the cars and noise of the city, and still had a hard time occasionally falling asleep. But now, she heard nothing but a slight breeze, and the rustling of plants. Every now and then, a bird chirped. She also noticed that she was resting among deep grasses, rather than the short grass of the garden plot.
She bolted upright, and cast her gaze around, hoping to get some clue as to where she might be. There was nothing to give any indication, only the sense of familiarity. She got up slowly, and began to wander about, realizing there wasn't much there, simply the wide open plains. She turned to the sky, and immediately noticed why she knew this place. It was the mountain for her dreams. She knew exactly where she was.
She suddenly felt that if she wanted to really hone her powers, this was the time and place. So she began to practice, causing the grasses to grow, and changing the contours of the plains. She practiced for hours, always using her power to reverse what she had done, to leave it looking the same. It was hard, and she was drenched in sweat, and very tired.
She flopped down to rest, and her eyes drifted shut. She loved the sounds of nature all around her, and drifted off to sleep with its sweet lullaby in her ears.
She jerked awake when her dreams were broken but the loud honking of an alarm going of on the next block. She looked around, shaking her head in confusion.
"It had been so real," she said aloud, not realizing it. As she pulled herself to her feet, she noticed the grasses twined in her hair, they didn't belong in the garden.
She smiled to herself as she crawled back through the window, and knew she had to go home, her first home.
