Providence walked briskly into the seemingly empty library, and sighed as she dropped her overloaded bag onto the nearest table.
Of course, she thought, as she began to pull a few books from it. On top of all this work, and exams, now I have these stupid daydreams, that mean nothing.
She scowled, thinking of how strange it was for her to be daydreaming in the first place. And it only happened when she was trying to picture her future, tired, or the strangest yet, when she touched various things.
Shrugging, she slumped into the chair, and then smiled as she thought of the assignments ahead. She tried to picture her dream, the colleges she would attend, but instead the same strange vision took control.
The clouds parted, and revealed the city, but not as she knew it. Instead, the people were different, as if they no longer felt the freedom to do as they wished. They watched their every move, so as not to upset the ones above. Above? Above where? she thought to herself, as the view zoomed through the city.
In the middle of central park was a large temple. The entire thing was overgrown with wild vegetation, but it appeared that it was mean to be.
Everywhere surrounding it, the people were hard at work, breaking up the paths, and returning the park to nature. Many of them seemed happy, but other seemed to be shooting worried and frightened glaces at the beautiful white building. Once again the view changed, across town to the mall.
In its place was another temple, but this one was made of pinkish marble, and surrounded by roses. The people inside were all very beautiful, but seemed somehow unhappy.
Again the vision started to change, zooming across the water, a mountain appeared...
She was jerked violently from the strange dream, by the sound of someone dropping a book. She glanced sheepishly around herself, hoping she merely looked as if she were studying.
